Academic Year Law Clerk Clerks will assist with current litigation and legislative advocacy by conducting research and writing assignments, participating in coalition meetings and internal legal strategy sessions, and, whenever possible, attending depositions, mediations, hearings, and other litigation-related events. Under the supervision of ERA attorneys, staff advice and counseling hotline. Through this hotline, interview callers and provide legal advice regarding sex discrimination, sexual harassment, Title IX enforcement, family & medical leave, and other employment issues. Law clerks may also have the opportunity to present educational workshops to community groups regarding sex discrimination in the workplace and/or in schools.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 2Ls, 3Ls, and 4th year students participating in a four-year graduation schedule. Excellent writing & research skills. Commitment to public interest law, women’s issues, and/or economic justice. Experience working with marginalized communities, people of color, low-income individuals, immigrants, at-risk youth. Coursework and/or experience in employment or discrimination law, preferred. Bilingual ability, especially Spanish, are strongly encouraged to apply. Proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog or Vietnamese also a plus. Schedule: 12 hours per week
