Litigation Paralegal The candidate will be working for a boutique law firm providing legal representation to individuals and businesses with insurance, real estate, and corporate matters. Will help in preparation and filing of legal documents and service of documents on third parties. Preparation and transmission of legal correspondence. Coordination, scheduling and rescheduling of hearings with opposing counsel. Negotiation with opposing counsel for purposes of entering into agreed orders. Scheduling, calendaring and maintenance of all deadlines including court filings, court hearings, conferences, mediations and meetings. Communication with clients, judicial assistants, opposing counsel and court staff. Assumption of responsibility for attorney’s calendar such that candidate will provide attorney with reminders and advanced notice of pending items in order to ensure all deadlines are timely met. Preparation of responses to written discovery. Oversight and management of attorney case load in order to ensure movement.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have minimum of 3 to 5 years of Litigation experience (First Party Insurance Claims preferred). Highly proficient in Outlook and Word. Proficiency in TimeMatters (A Plus). Excellent grammar (verbal and written), proof-reading and listening skills. Bilingual English/Spanish and/or Creole (A Plus). Excellent Professional phone etiquette, professional manner and appearance. Detail oriented with good organizational skills. Able to work independently as well as be a team player. Personable, Friendly and outgoing. Able to multi-task.

Continue with your hiring efforts. Probably need to work with a human resources recruiter to bring in additional staff more quickly.

Pros : Agree with prior reviewer that this place is innovative and creative in its approach. The Firm supports its employees in their professional growth. I have worked at a lot of law firms and this firm is a really fun place to work compared to the typical stuffy law office environment. I disagree with the prior reviewer in that compensation for this firm is definitely competitive if you are good at your job. The firm focuses on results so those who can perform will definitely be rewarded. If you aren't good at your job then the firm doesn't fast track you so this is likely why the prior reviewer didn't experience growth or get an increase in pay.
Cons : The firm was experiencing significant growth while I was there so they were short staffed. This placed a burden on staff at that time. I know management was working to correct this so it may not be an issue any longer.
