Energy Senior Associate or Counsel The candidate to join Energy Practice in the DC office and be a key contributor to our representation of public utilities, electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, and retail regulators before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the federal courts. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and team-oriented atmosphere while enjoying the benefits and resources of a large, international law firm. Will have strong administrative litigation experience and will work with partners and be a key member of the team. Expected responsibilities will include: Managing reporting obligations for public utility clients before FERC and other federal and state agencies; Serving as first as first-chair on litigation and leading client teams; Providing legal analysis in documents such as purchase agreements, corporate governance, acquisitions and dispositions; Working collaboratively on the regulation of the transmission of electricity with direct responsibility for making electric transmission tariff filings, negotiating jurisdictional agreements, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations; Providing counsel to clients on complex policy and business issues; Supporting the growth and management of client relationships; Performing general research and writing tasks for a variety of clients. 7 years of previous law firm or Federal Energy Regulatory Commission experience required. Broad regulatory trial experience is essential; general transactional experience is a plus. Experience with resolving disputes, either in regulatory/stakeholder proceedings at FERC or in an RTO/ISO, or through administrative litigation is a plus. Should be admitted to a state bar and/or eligible for the District of Columbia bar.
