Trust Officer / AVP Duties: Provide complete administration of assigned customer accounts, including trusts, estates, agencies, and conservatorship. Act as a primary contact person for assigned customer accounts and manage them according to governing standards and with regard for the specific needs of the principals, beneficiaries and remaindermen. Consult with clients and representing attorneys concerning the preliminary draft, and final details of client-specific provisions within their Estate Plans. Administer simpler & less complex trusts, estates, individual retirement accounts, and agency accounts. As Trust Officer skillset & aptitude increases, they can become eligible to be moved to AVP & Trust Officer. Create account folders, administer accounts as they are opened and closed, and establish account reference files. Interact with various businesses and agencies when filing necessary Medicare/insurance claims, nursing home insurance claims, bills, or subscriptions.Monitor daily operations of trust accounts with the investment officer. Ensures proper asset allocation, responds to customers’ tax and investment questions, and handles excess monies and overdrafts through timely buys and sells as necessary. Prepare or assemble necessary income projections, death valuation, and other material required for client and committee meetings. Assist with the department’s tax reporting process, which includes informational tax reporting and fiduciary, individual, estate and gift tax return preparation and compliance. Ensure subordinates are trained and comply with bank policy, laws, and regulations applicable to their roles. Monitor subordinates’ adherence to internal controls and take action to address employee performance issues. Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training: follow internal processes and controls as required. Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies. Assist Trust Services Advisors (Business Development Officers) with marketing trust services to prospects and professionals. This includes a complete review of estate plans. Trust Officers and AVP & Trust Officers shall also have individual goals regarding new business development. Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned. Regular and reliable attendance.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or comparable Personal Trust experience preferred. Law degree, CPA designation, or advanced attendance at professional trust school desired. Should preferably have 3-5 years of trust administration and/or banking experience. Well-developed knowledge in Estate Planning, Personal Trust Administration, Tax (fiduciary, estate and individual), Wealth Management and Business Development is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and in working with other financial software.
