Assistant General Counsel The candidate will be responsible for representing the Communityâ€™s Family Services Department in child protection, Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), adult conservatorship and other matters in the Communityâ€™s Tribal Court and other courts as needed. In addition to the work in Family Services, the Assistant General Counsel will assist in other Legal Department matters, including those involving: contracts, tribal governance and tribal agencies, employment issues/disputes, land and environment, land assignments and housing, healthcare, litigation, enrollment, ordinance drafting and revision, gaming operations and regulations, and government relations. Must be licensed to practice in Minnesota and have 3+ years of experience working with tribal governments and/or work related to the Indian Child Welfare Act, child welfare and family services. Must be well versed in the Indian Child Welfare Act. Must gain admission to practice law before the Communityâ€™s Tribal Court. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and under pressure. Must be sensitive to Native American culture. Closing Date: August 17, 2018.
