Legal Clerk - Real Estate Responsibilities : The candidate will possess basic computer skills, including basic word processing, familiarity with electronic research tools and basic database skills. Type or keyboard a minimum of 45 words per minute. Assist with the preparation of loan documents by carefully reviewing client documents such as credit presentations, letters of intent or other documents and insert into forms of loan documents relevant information. Perform basic secretary of state searches to confirm entity organization. Accuracy and attention to detail are required. Organize and track large numbers of documents. Organize and track documents in clients’ files. Create, organize, enter and maintain documents into automated document management and/or database systems. Research information from various administrative bodies, public information sources, etc. Perform electronic research as needed on governmental web sites. Coordinate vendors in conjunction with projects such as attorney service vendors, copy vendors, corporate vendors, etc. Check photocopies of all documents to ensure they are correct and complete. Check PDF and other digital media to ensure they are correct and complete. Convert documents to PDF format for delivery to clients. Prepare final signature pages for delivery to clients and other parties. Prepare documents for scanning and perform scanning and naming of documents. Sort documents in chronological order. Track time in DTE and assure that services provided are properly charged to the client. Track expenses for travel and client meetings, in the event that travel is necessary. Compile documents in connection with any transaction, including the preparation of final closing binder indices.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements : The candidate must have an Associate of Arts Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate is a plus. Should have 2 years’ experience with some form of law firm experience is a plus. Must have past experience in a Bank or other lending organization is a plus. California Notary Public is a plus. The candidate should have a proven ability to learn quickly, paying close attention to detail. Should have typing or keyboarding accuracy. Must have ability to focus on project is required. Must have ability to deal professionally with all levels of clients, both internally and externally. Must have proven ability to work independently and tackle projects with minimal supervision. Must possess basic computer skills, including basic word processing, familiarity with electronic research tools. Should have Ability to maintain confidences as well as build confidences and trust. Should have familiarity with corporate formation practices and procedures is a plus. Have familiarity with the anatomy of a real estate corporate transaction is a plus. Have familiarity with bank procedures or bank “closers” is a plus. Should have ability to work overtime as necessary, including nights and weekends, depending on lawyer and client needs. Requires the ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled.Should have ability to be flexible, to handle pressure and to adapt to changing work priorities, work flow and work assignments. Should have ability to effectively and respectfully communicate verbally and in writing with other staff, lawyers, management and clients. Ability to organize a large amount of data and files into an efficient system (both electronic and hardcopy).
