Senior Counsel - Patent, Biotech The candidate will be developing coordinated strategy with the Government Affairs team on policy and advocacy efforts to shape biologics and biosimilar patent issues; building firm’s reputation; and raising awareness about firm’s biotech innovation; partnering with firm’s Washington D.C. International Government Affairs team to leverage US Government and business network to advance policy issues and mitigate government actions which impact firm business; ensuring alignment with corporate-wide (global) Intellectual Property advocacy efforts and strategies; and building and engaging coalitions to deliver a stronger, united message for effective patent incentives. JD degree or LL.M. degree from an ABA accredited law school, admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction and 4 years of experience practicing intellectual property law is needed. Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is essential. Should preferably have 10+ years of experience practicing patent or intellectual property law. Experience in all aspects of U.S. and foreign intellectual property law relating to biotechnology at a law firm or biotechnology/pharmaceutical corporation is essential. An advanced degree such as a Master’s or Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, structural biology, chemical engineering or biology is needed. Experience in government affairs connected to intellectual property is essential. Excellent analytic, legal drafting and oral and written communication skills is essential.
