Senior Fellow, Student Privacy Responsibilities: Research, conduct interviews, and draft best practices or white papers on relevant Ed Tech issues; work with Communications team to message findings and share results; Research and write testimony, blog posts, comments, legal memoranda and amicus briefs; Engage with technology companies, public interest groups, academics, and others to promote dialogue and consensus-building on student privacy issues; Plan and execute events to engage key stakeholders, including developing meeting agendas and identifying and securing speakers; Monitor outcomes, progress, and outreach to be consistent with grant reporting; Serve as point of contact for media inquiries in the Ed Tech space and publically present work in a variety of settings; Assist with fundraising when necessary, including the drafting of funding proposals and reports; Supervise and mentor to student privacy fellow; and Provide policy and technical assistance to Congress and government agencies.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A graduate degree in law or public policy; Basic knowledge of internet technologies and a demonstrated interest in technology policy issues; Experience working in or with Congress or federal agencies; and Experience analyzing policy and legislation. A demonstrated knowledge of education policy and privacy, including 5+ years of experience in these areas and a working knowledge of US laws governing student privacy and civil rights; Excellent research and writing skills; The ability to convene experts and gather and integrate different points of view, and; An energetic, entrepreneurial and collaborative working style.
