ProfileLegal Assistant Duties: Answering Phones. General Clerical and office duties. Greeting Clients. Performing Initial intakes with potential new clients. Scheduling consults. Maintaining the firm calendar. Filing. Recording Documents with the county recorder’s office and occasionally delivering documents to court or another law office. Managing networking system for attorneys so that relationships with networking partners are maintained. Calendar management for a family law practice—keeping the calendar accurate and being able to populate deadlines and tickers for upcoming deadlines. Preparing documents for clients, opposing counsel and the court. Drafting Cover Letters. Proof-reading. Preparing and filing proofs of services, setting up process servers, messengers, and tracking outstanding serves. Opening new case files. Closing case files. Posting on Firm’s Social Media sites. Event planning. Managing and ordering office supplies.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate will have Associate’s Degree with 1 year of prior law firm experience, strong clerical skills, be a self-starter, familiar with Local Rules, friendly, compassionate, focused, organized, and have excellent note taking and documentation skills. Software knowledge of: MS Office, Constant Contacts, MyCase, Basecamp, Adobe D.C., QuickBooks, LexisNexis, and Proview.
