Defense Litigation Paralegal The candidate will serve as the sole paralegal for the personal injury docket, and as such, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the docket from inception of a lawsuit through trial and/or final dismissal. Should have had prior experience working in litigation and must understand the nuances of managing a personal injury docket. Will still be responsible for maintaining the docket from inception of a lawsuit through trial and/or final dismissal. Should preferably have 5+ years of experience working in litigation and is very comfortable with all of the responsibilities listed below. Specific Responsibilities for Paralegal Include: Drafting Pleadings, discovery responses, discovery summaries, and correspondence; Preparing litigation status reports; Subpoenaing medical records; Preparing medical chronologies; Retention and coordination of expert witnesses; Reviewing and analyzing sensitive data and client documents - determining applicable privileges and production of non-privileged materials throughout the discovery process; Managing case deadlines; Coordinating depositions; Contacting and interviewing fact witnesses; General case investigation; Open record requests; Legal research; Trial preparation and attendance, when necessary. Should have general familiarity with the deadlines contained in the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure. Must have 2-5 years of experience working in a law office doing substantial paralegal work. Should have 5+ years of experience working in a law office doing substantial paralegal work. Paralegal Certificate or degree in legal studies is preferred. NALA certified paralegal designation is highly sought for Products Liability position.
