Counsel - Customers & Products, Americas
Duties: Responsible for providing comprehensive strategic and solution-focused guidance on legal and risk-related matters and projects, to assist in minimising its legal and reputational risks. Providing commercially focused advice on daily operations, network with specialist and commercial legal colleagues, help assess future opportunities, and advise on potential impacts from legislative, regulatory, and litigation matters. Ability to draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including fuel supply, distribution, operations, vendors, customer offers, and digital solutions.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD degree from an accredited US law school or equivalent. Valid, active license to practice law with capability to serve as in-house counsel in this role. 5+ years’ experience in law firms or law department in-house roles. Experience with FTC Rule on Franchising and Franchise Disclosure Documents. Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a broader legal team. Strong technical legal skills combined with ability to take strategic view on issues. Experience communicating and working effectively with senior management. Ability to train client teams on relevant topics pertinent to their business, but also gain understanding and train on Anti-trust/competition, Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, as needed. Ability to manage external service providers and meet budget commitments. Proven ability to work as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility to support others during high volume workload.
Desirable: Experience representing large multi-unit franchise systems, new offer development and new market entry. Experience with fuel and convenience store businesses with various levels of control or ownership. Experience with company-owned, company-operated convenience store and fuel offers. Experience with PMPA franchise laws.
