Assistant Attorney General III The candidate represents state law enforcement agencies, officials and employees in defense of lawsuits involving, civil rights, employment, tort, and religious liberties disputes in both state and federal court. Performs legal research and prepares motions, pleadings, briefs, memoranda and other legal documents. Performs analyses of factual and legal issues and develops evidence through witness interviews, depositions, and written discovery. Prepares for, attends, and argues at federal &state court hearings and jury trials. Provides legal advice, counsel, and assistance to client state agencies and law enforcement entities. Provides excellent client service. Functions well with other attorneys and staff in a dynamic office environment. Performs related work as assigned. Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions. Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information. Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity. Graduation from an accredited law school with a JD degree is needed. Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas is needed. Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas is essential. Should have 2+ years of full-time experience working as a licensed attorney. State and/or federal court trial experience is needed. Knowledge of laws and legal principles and practices relevant to the Law Enforcement Defense Division is essential. Should have 5+ years of full-time experience as a licensed attorney practicing in civil litigation. Experience preparing for, taking, and defending depositions are needed. First chair jury trial experience in either federal or state court is needed. Law Review, moot court, and/or mock trial experience is essential.
