Family Law Facilitator The candidate will be responsible for: directing the services of the Family Law Facilitator's office, the Small Claims Advisor Program and Probate facilitation services including supervising subordinate personnel; providing oversight for programs and grant funding relating to assigned services; serving as the Court's family law expert including assisting judicial officers and court personnel in researching family law related questions; assisting in the development, documentation and maintenance of family law policies, local rules, local forms, procedures and programs; providing assistance to self-represented litigants in a variety of settings including, a triage desk, a help desk, in workshops, in the courtroom and in related areas as needed; leading the development of programming and materials to aid in providing service to self-represented litigants; developing and coordinating programs for bar and community outreach and educational programs; and performing other related duties as assigned. Should have knowledge of: Program planning and evaluation; Management principles and methods, including goal setting, program and budget administration and employee supervision; Family law procedures; Trial and hearing procedures and rules of evidence; Civil and family litigation; and Office productivity software as well as other computer programs such as DCSS Child Support Calculator, Essential Forms, Dissomaster, Westlaw, and Lexis/Nexis. Must meet the minimum qualifications set forth in the Family Law Facilitator Act (Family Code section 10000 et seq) and California Rule of Court 5.430 including: Possession of a law degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the State Bar of California; and 5+ years' experience in the practice of law, which must include substantial family law practice including litigation and/or mediation. Should preferably have experience and significant training in the areas of mediation and domestic violence. Application deadline: 2/20/2018.
