Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join its team focusing on electrical engineering and software technologies. This role provides an exciting opportunity for candidates with experience in patent law and a technical background in electrical engineering, software, or related fields. The successful candidate will play a critical role in drafting, prosecuting, and litigating patents for innovative technologies.
Location:
- Mountain View, CA
Duties:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications related to electrical engineering, software, and related fields
- Represent clients in patent litigation matters
- Counsel clients on intellectual property strategy
- Prepare and file responses to office actions with the USPTO
- Manage and maintain patent portfolios
- Conduct patent searches and legal analyses
- Communicate complex technical concepts to clients and stakeholders
- Collaborate with engineers and technical teams on patent matters
Requirements:
- 2-6 years of experience in patent prosecution and litigation
- Admitted to the USPTO
- Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
- Design engineering experience with chip companies is a plus
- Experience with wireless communication technologies (5G, 6G, 3GPP standards) is a plus, but not required
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent academic credentials
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
Certifications:
- USPTO Registration required
Skills:
- Patent prosecution and litigation experience
- Strong knowledge of patent law and intellectual property
