Attorney General The candidate work in Civil and Criminal Litigation and Advice Section ("CLA"), which provides legal representation to the Arizona Department of Economic Security ("DES") and Department of Child Safety (â€œDCSâ€) on myriad subjects and issues. The position involves the following: Analyzing and researching complex and diverse legal issues pertaining to contracts, leases, intergovernmental agreements, and procurement matters and providing written and oral advice. Analyzing, applying, and advising the client with regard to various federal regulations and state/federal statutes and the Arizona Procurement Code. Representing the client in connection with administrative hearings and other legal proceedings pertaining to contracts disputes or arising out of the procurement process. A willingness to work collaboratively and in a team setting is critical.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have admission to, and good standing with, the Arizona State Bar. Candidate must have an active Arizona State Bar license.
Knowledge needed: Knowledge and understanding of applicable statutes, case law and court rules. Knowledge of litigation and the administrative process. Knowledge of ethical standards applicable to lawyers and public employees.
Skills needed: Skill in working with the client to solve complex/diverse challenges. Skill in analyzing, interpreting and applying myriad federal regulations and state/federal statutes. Skill in persuasive oral and written communication pertaining to case presentation through various stages of representation, including litigation through trial or the administrative process (and appeal if required). Skill in working with co-workers to solve problems. Skill in prioritizing multiple demands.
Abilities needed: Ability to identify/analyze complex legal issues and communicate about the same with the client. Ability to effectively utilize skills of subordinate staff. Ability to display courteous and professional behavior. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making strategic decisions in cases and in providing legal advice to the client.
Will have legal experience advising on contracts and procurement matters. An understanding of the Arizona Procurement Code is a plus. Excellent writing and communication skills are required. Applicants must also have the ability to work collaboratively with others.
