 A law firm seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Data Privacy & Compliance Associate Attorney to join its team in Washington, DC, with a hybrid work setup. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of transactional experience, a strong ability to draft and negotiate privacy-related clauses, and the capacity to handle multiple client matters in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other relevant laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate privacy clauses and data security provisions in contracts and agreements.
  • Support clients in managing data protection risks and implementing compliance strategies.
  • Oversee multiple client projects, ensuring timely delivery of legal services.
  • Monitor changes in privacy laws and regulations, advising clients on any necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, compliance, and IT departments, to address privacy-related issues.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, legal memos, and presentations that translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in privacy law, particularly in transactional and compliance work.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills related to privacy agreements and data security provisions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to clients.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in the state where the candidate resides.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Expertise in drafting privacy clauses, data protection provisions, and negotiating agreements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
