Associate Director, Pharmaceutical Sciences Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management Duties: Lead a global, cross-functional team (some direct reporting, some matrix) to strategically source and manage the outsourced business operations and relationships. Leads provision of Operations . Leads creation and maintenance of effective Vendor Network Strategies. Leads the ongoing maintenance of existing critical vendors (performance management, business/financial and operations reviews). Provides expertise to internal collaborations across PS functions and our development partners. This position will work closely with Procurement, Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS) and Initiatives to ensure transparency of PS strategy in the use new vendors, alliances, and development partnerships. Leads a staff who is responsible for operations of the global Sourcing and Vendor Management (Operations and Management) of Pharmaceutical Sciences:. Operations (Contract Execution). Lead global cross-functional teams through the due diligence and operational components of the outsourcing process including, but not limited to RFIs/RFPs, supplier bid analysis, technical, financial, and quality due diligence, preparation of materials for team recommendation to appropriate governance bodies (e.g. Manufacturing Steering Committee), contract award/decline, and supplier relationship management. Develop, implement, and continuously improve global best practices with critical stakeholders that establish and maintain seamless contract processes and terms (Vendor, Legal, Procurement, Finance, etc.). Accountable for ongoing outsourcing processes to ensure and maintain business continuity (e.g. routine progress/performance tracking, records management and risk/issue identification and mitigation). Create the processes/systems/tools needed to provide visibility to the above activities. Direct the critical review of contractual documents, which may include confidentiality agreements, evaluation agreements, consulting agreements, master contract services agreements, development and manufacturing services agreements, and statements of work/task orders/change orders. Management (Vendor Management). Create and direct routine business review with critical vendors in coordination/alignment with Procurement and other key stakeholders. Accountable for adherence to agreed-upon service levels with key stakeholders and the on-time execution of PS vendor management related processes. Provide Sr Leadership visibility to Vendor performance metrics and provide recommendations for adjustment to contract or vendor strategies. Responsible for resolution of business-critical issues effecting Operations and Management that are escalated to Sr Leadership as necessary. Negotiates and clearly communicates changes in procurement and/or vendor environment to stakeholders. Creates the robust network strategies through close coordination of Laboratory need, Procurement and GMS objectives, outsourcing need, and knowledge and understanding of available/preferred vendor pools. Creates / Leads Functional strategy, goals and initiatives. Represents PS on cross-divisional governance and development teams while providing strategy and accountability for PS deliverables. Mentors, manages, oversees and supports assigned staff to optimize development, motivation and retention.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: BS/BA or equivalent degree. Paralegal Certificate a plus. PMP a plus. Advanced degree i.e. MBA a plus. 10+ years of relevant contracts management and/or operations related experience in supply chain and/or biopharmaceutical development. 3+ years experience managing people and complex projects. Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical development, must demonstrate knowledge of several allied fields, such as legal, procurement and/or manufacturing. Strong attention to detail. Develops and uses knowledge and interpersonal skills to influence and guide stakeholders towards the accomplishment of goals and objectives; adapts well to different personalities and manages others on the team in a respectful manner. Ability to identify risks to multiple ongoing activities and propose appropriate risk response strategies. Ability to expresses one’s self clearly and concisely to key stakeholders; documents issues and/or concerns concisely and comprehensively; adjusts style, language and/or terminology appropriate for the audience. Ability to independently manage complex internal and external resources (people, information, technologies and time) under routinely compressed timelines. Mentors, manages, oversees and supports assigned staff to optimize development, motivation and retention.
