Legal Annotation Manager/Corporate Attorney
Responsibilities: Manage internal and external resources including attorneys and other professionals to gather contracts, build working database, and accurately annotate contracts within project deadlines. Work closely with other team leaders to help strategically define additional legal domains in which to train the software. Prepare substantive legal guidelines in conjunction with domain experts for annotators to follow in training the software. Work with machine learning engineers to review the software’s output when training new provisions and discuss and implement annotation processes to improve accuracy. Determine skills sets and domain expertise required to meet strategic objectives in training the software and take the lead on hiring or leveraging outside resources as needed. Map out projects in detail and supervise annotators to ensure progress is made and milestones are hit within required timeframes.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Candidate must have a JD Degree or LLM and 3+ years of experience reviewing a variety of contracts, including general commercial contracts, leases, loan agreements, license agreements and M&A-related agreements. Experience with investment management agreements, ISDA and/or IP-related agreements a plus. Project management experience (can be in the context of managing deal work) including defining objectives, assigning tasks, supervising and quality control. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and make progress. Initiative-taking, organized, technically savvy, detail oriented, resourceful, resilient, “street” smart and “book” smart, and most importantly, have a desire to grow.
