Paralegal Duties: Arranging for the delivery of legal paperwork. Typing correspondence and legal paperwork. Transcribing court proceedings and other recorded meetings. Scheduling, coordinating and confirming court dates, appointments, and meetings. Conducting research in legal matters. Maintain calendars and schedules for a number of attorneys. Understand the basics of a number of court documents, such as summons and subpoenas make travel arrangements. Arrange for the filing of court documents. Prepare case briefs and summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimony. Conduct investigations and statistical/documentary research. Locate and develop case relevant information. Type up and file basic legal documents and correspondence. Answer and direct phone calls. Maintain contact lists. Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars. Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Write reports to help lawyers prepare for trials. Draft correspondence and legal documents. Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court. Help lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts. File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel. Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: High school diploma (AA, B.A. and/or Paralegal Studies Certificate preferred); 5+ years of legal experience working with senior partner in a law firm environment. Ability to read, listen, communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system; Proficiency in state and federal court rules of Civil Procedure and local court rules; Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision; Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines; Have excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task Have hands-on computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook Email applications.
