Legal Assistant - Investment Management DUTIES: Answers phone calls for assigned attorneys. Opens new client matter numbers for incoming client work. Tracks status of deals for assigned attorneys. Prepares initial investment overview for clients and submits for review by attorney. Proofreads and edits legal documents such as comment memoranda, side letters, and other investment management documents as assigned. Assists in preparation and/or drafting of legal correspondence and investment management documents such as comment tracking charts, subscription documents, and formation documents for investment vehicles. Coordinates entity registrations, filings, and requests for corporate governance documents with third party vendors. Compiles executed documents for closings. Manages all documents and saves to repository. Files documents per in-house process. Coordinates any mailings that need to be sent to clients in connection with closings or otherwise. Corresponds with clients and opposing counsel as necessary. Collaborates with other in-house departments such as accounting, document processing, word processing, to ensure the smooth workflow of each matter. Review invoices for content and report on billing status . Assists attorneys with CLE registrations and logistics. Assists attorneys with conference calls and meeting coordination. Assists attorneys with administrative tasks such as printing, expense reports, and mail as needed. Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the assigned attorneys.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and 3+ years of relevant/specialized work experience. Legal or professional services organization experience is preferred . Paralegal certificate is preferred . Broad computer knowledge, skills, and proficiency with Windows Operating System, Word Processing, Spreadsheets (Excel), Presentations (Power Point), Internet (IE, Chrome, FireFox), and other compatible and related software. Demonstrates strong attention to detail. Excellent organization skills - setting priorities, initiative, advance planning, and flexibility. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communications skills. Knowledge of finance/corporate legal terminology. Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques. Commitment to excellent client service. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively and accurately present information and respond to questions from attorneys, clients, and others. Makes well-reasoned, effective decisions. Meets deadlines and manages time effectively. Collaborates and promotes team building. Observes employee and attorney-client confidentiality. Accessible and responsive; timely return of calls and e-mails. Interacts in a professional manner.

Great for the person that wants to get away from large New York type law and move to a more hip and smaller city. Also great for anyone into tech companies and issues.

Pros : They have a large practice but it is really focused around business and commercial clients. It is a great place to break into the tech market since many of the local companies in the area are tech ones. They are really focused on that and you will meet many of those types of clients. Also with the location there is a lot of port and maritime law.
Cons : It is a very large firm and it is very Seattle centric, which can be a good thing but also can be very limiting. It is not a place to be if you desire to work in New York or Washington D.C. It also can be hard to move up.
