A law firm in Tampa, FL, is seeking a Labor and Employment Associate Attorney with 3-4 years of litigation experience and a strong interest in employment law. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of employment-related issues and regulatory frameworks, including the FLSA, ERISA, COBRA, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and Title VII. This role involves advising clients on compliance, managing employment litigation, and working within a team-focused environment.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with wage and hour regulations, employment laws, and other work-related regulations.
  • Handle administrative actions related to employment matters, including drafting pleadings and motions.
  • Assist in employment litigation and arbitrations, including preparing and responding to discovery requests, and managing trial and arbitration processes.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support client advice and case strategies.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including employment contracts, policies, and compliance materials.
  • Represent clients in disputes related to employment law, including mediation and court proceedings.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to develop effective legal strategies and solutions.
  • Stay updated on developments in employment law and regulations to provide informed advice and representation.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of litigation experience in a law firm environment with a focus on employment law.
  • Prior understanding of employment-related issues and a working knowledge of the FLSA, ERISA, COBRA, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and Title VII.
  • Proven experience in handling administrative actions, employment litigation, and arbitrations.
  • Excellent academic credentials and demonstrated writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • Admission to practice law in Florida is preferred, but strong candidates seeking to relocate to Florida will be considered.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in Florida is preferred.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of employment law and related regulations.
  • Strong litigation skills, including drafting, negotiating, and managing legal documents and proceedings.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills for drafting pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence.
