ProfileWalnut Creek office of our client seeks employment attorney with 5+ years of experience. The candidate will be advising clients on discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; California and FLSA wage and hour law, including meal and rest breaks; California and federal employment contract law, including offers, separations, and non-solicitation agreements; terminations and layoffs, including WARN and CAL-WARN; protected leaves, vacation rules, and disparate impact analyses; pay equity reviews; complicated leave issues; OFCCP affirmative action requirements. Will be drafting employment documents and client updates and preparing client trainings. Conducting presentations/webinars on employment law. Negotiating employment law-related issues, including separation agreements, grievances, and agency claims. Maintaining up-to-date competency on employment law, student affairs, and other firm practice areas so that research is not always required and is reserved for unique issues. Identifying novel areas of employment law that do not have answers where firm could demonstrate thought leadership. Understanding of the role that technology will play in changing the practice of law and making recommendations on how technology can be leveraged to improve the clients? experience, products, or needs. Should have a California-licensed attorney. Must have a mastery of California employment law in an advice and counsel practice. Labor law or higher education law experience, particularly experience with Title IX, is a plus.
