Paralegal The candidate will perform client intake interviews by phone and in person. Will research and prepare client personal injury claims including correspondence with insurance adjusters, requesting reports and records, and identifying witnesses and necessary evidence. Draft documents, including proper formatting and editing per attorney's notes. Answer a multi-line phone system with other staff. Have daily contact with clients, including in person, over the telephone, and via email. File documents via e-filing, through state and federal court systems. Manage case preparation, including organization of all documents for all hearings, pretrial conferences, and trials. Develop familiarity and proficiency with case management software systems used by the firm. Read correspondence, reports, and legal documents. Organize client conferences and attorney meetings. Schedule process servers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other special functions. Maintain attorney calendar by planning and scheduling conferences. Record and monitor court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements. Monitor evidence-gathering. Follow-up on delegated assignments.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have an Associate's degree. Should preferably have Bachelor's degree and Paralegal certification. Should preferably also have 1+ year of secretarial and legal office experience. Work experience with insurance adjusting and/or personal injury claims is desired. Ability to understand and draft discovery documents and pleadings is an asset. Experience with online legal research is a plus. Strong litigation experience qualifies for more consideration. Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Excellent writing and communication skills are needed. Should have MS Office experience including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Attention to detail and desire to produce a quality product are a must. Should have ability to multi-task.
