Assistant General Counsel The candidate provides legal services and counsel to key leaders, stakeholders and others within Seattle Children's and its affiliate organizations to ensure protection of Seattle Children's legal rights. Collaborates with the Legal Team to assure coordinated, consistent advice is provided across the organization. Prepares, negotiates and reviews legal documents, including contracts, leases, joint venture agreements, network agreements, governance documents (e.g., bylaws, LLC operating agreements), regulatory submissions and other documents with legal effect. Applies expertise in the context of Seattle Children's strategic and business objectives to recognize, analyze, and evaluate legal issues. Provides professional interpretations and recommendations on issues requiring legal analysis and resolution. Collaborates with the Legal team to provide regular staff education through client conferences, training sessions, and oral presentations; advises clients on new developments in the law; and proactively identifies problem areas for clients to minimize risks. In consultation with the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, or Assistant General Counsel, oversees, directs and coordinates work of external counsel acting on behalf of Seattle Children's. Works collaboratively with the Corporate Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, and Security Officer to provide legal support for compliance, privacy and security matters, including supporting internal investigations, reviewing policies and procedures and making recommendations for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. JD degree or equivalent from ABA accredited law school. Demonstrated experience in legal and regulatory framework governing hospital and health care operations. Should have 7+ years of relevant health care law experience in corporate, public or private law firm setting. JD degree from an ABA accredited law school. Admitted to practice law in the State of Washington Preferred: - Prior experience in a major law firm or in-house experience in a large, complex organization is needed.
