Family Law Paralegal The candidate must be prepared to immediately begin work with little training. In addition to litigation support and substantive paralegal work, the position may require coordinating hearings, managing attorney calendars, screening prospective clients, or answering the telephone when needed. Will be responsible for handling administrative activities that ensure the successful and efficient flow of daily activities. Drafting legal documents. Processing mandatory disclosures. Assisting with trial preparation. Handling documentation and correspondence as needed. Electronic filing. Coordinating hearings and appointments. Following office procedures to maintain the integrity of the firm. Cooperating with others to achieve the highest level of client satisfaction. Participating as needed in special projects.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have an associate degree. Minimum 2 yr. degree in paralegal studies or equivalent experience. Must have at least some experience as a full-time paralegal handling family law matters in Florida. Experience in general civil litigation is also plus. Must be a Florida Registered Paralegal pursuant to Rule 20-3.1 and must have worked as a trial-paralegal handling a heavy case load for a full-time family law attorney, or multiple attorneys, in Florida. Must be capable of demonstrating exemplary communication with clients, attorneys, judicial staff, and peers. Must be capable of resolving routine legal issues under the direction of an attorney. An in depth knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within family law and civil litigation is required to be successful. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Computer literacy. Must be able to successfully pass background check.
