Family Law Paralegal The candidate reports to Managing Partner of Family Law Department. E-mailing to clients with explanation all correspondence and pleadings received by mail. Drafting financial affidavits of clients when directed by lead attorney. Drafting responses to requests for production, interrogatories. Calendaring dates of discovery due. Calendaring dates of answers due. Drafting and filing motions for ex-parte orders in regards to overdue discovery and motions for clerk’s default. Drafting transmittal letters to clerk, counsel judges or to forward orders for signature. Preparing packets for filing original or modification cases, arranging for service of process and follow up. Drafting summons, civil cover sheet, request to produce, notice of service of standard interrogatories, interrogatories, any other documents requested by either attorney for new cases being filed, drafting trust account checks. Drafting notices of hearings, scanning and e-mailing to client with note to make an appointment to come in and prepare. E-filing all pleadings sent to Courts. Scheduling motion calendar hearings on motion calendar site, drafting notices and putting into calendars. Drafting notices of mediation, scanning and e-mailing to client in order to make them aware of the dates and also letting them know they need to come in to prepare for same. Drafting simple motions for approval by lead attorney and filing of same. Speaking with clients by phone and answering their emailed questions; supporting them. Dealing with phone calls from the clerk’s office when there are issues of filing or other issues related to the filing of pleadings, questions regarding transferring of venue etc. Scheduling special set hearings. E-mailing clients regularly to keep them up to date on their cases whether through notices of hearing or simply letting them know how their case is going forward. Preparing cases for trial, preparing trial folders with exhibits. Preparing discovery folders for each case, both our client’s and opposing client’s. Drafting subpoenas and notices of production from non-party doing the proper research into who to serve with proper addresses and researching the corporation website (sunbiz) to properly serve the registered agent. Researching property records to determine ownership. Gathering the information to forward to QDRO specialist. Filing Quit-Claim Deeds. Drafting and sending in Income Withholding Orders, Drafting transmittal letters. Filling out and sending in memo to the support depository. Should have 5+ years of experience as a family law paralegal. DPA & Word proficiency is required. Must be Bilingual.
