Legal Assistant II The candidate will conduct day-to-day operations of technology used during hearing to ensure reliable and effective operation; Create and maintain materials, including adjustment to fit participant needs, and instructs staff and public about hearing processes and technical capabilities of hearing room facilities; This position coordinates with the Chief Administrative Law Judge or designee to develop and provide training and presentations in a learning format independently or as a co-trainer/ facilitator; Respond to questions about availability, capability, and use of hearing room resources; Record with appropriate equipment all the proceedings as the Chief Administrative Law Judge or designee may designate; Document and track all dates relevant to public record requests, correspond with parties requesting public records including questions regarding the scope and relevance of a request; Identify and retrieve information necessary to support legal decision making on topics assigned by an administrative law judge utilizing web-based legal research sources as well as internal Commission resources; Investigate and verify accuracy of information appearing in case systems on assigned matters and make appropriate inquiries of Commission staff assigned to the proceeding if additional information is needed. Paralegal certificate obtained through either an American Bar Association (ABA) approved paralegal studies program or an accredited institution; and 1+ year of paralegal experience which includes conducting legal research, preparing drafts of legal documents and gathering and compiling data from legal references and resources. Should have 2+ years of work experience in a paralegal capacity which included conducting legal research, preparing drafts of legal documents and gathering and compiling data from legal references and resources will substitute for the required certificate; or A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school may substitute for the required certificate.
