Insurance Defense Attorney - Bodily Injury The candidate will be a member of the insurance defense litigation team, providing legal representation to insureds and/or to the company before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. Handling own cases from beginning to end, will also prepare legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs and be involved in negotiating settlements. Work closely with customers and claims team to ensure all appropriate defenses are leveraged to reach positive outcomes. Prepare pleadings, discovery, necessary court documents and attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials in assigned venues. Prepare timely structured reports on litigation developments to claims partners and Progressive insureds. Obtain, review and analyze written discovery, depositions and medical records. Communicating and collaborating with assigned claims partners and legal support staff while maintaining excellent relationships. Assess value of claims and risks of exposure. Should have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in New York. Must have 3+ years of experience in auto defense litigation or plaintiff’s personal injury. Should have ability to identify risk, review and assess medical records, depositions and other legal documents.
