Assistant Deputy Chief Appellate Court Attorney Duties: Serve in a confidential capacity and are responsible for assisting in administering the operations of Appellate Division Law Departments. Assist in supervision of appellate court attorney personnel. Research and analyze complex legal issues and questions on appeal from courts of general jurisdiction and also perform other related duties. Reviewing draft memorandum decisions and opinions for compliance with the Court’s writing style, ensuring no factual or legal errors; supervising all attorney editors and support staff; overseeing all work of editors and support staff in the department; and communicating with Justices and court personnel and working closely with the Consultation Clerk.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be currently employed by the NYS Unified Court System; and Admission to New York State Bar and 1 year of service in the Principal Appellate Court Attorney title; or Equivalent legal experience. Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail required. Prior editing experience and familiarity with the Court’ s writings are preferred.
