Paralegal The Candidate will be responsible to Format and finalize documents to filed with the court. Draft and finalize form complaints. Draft and finalize discovery responses. Finalize correspondence. Prepare subpoenas and deposition notices. Knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure, local, and court rules in state and federal court. Use Quickbooks to pay invoices and record litigation expenses. Coordinate with messenger services for court filings. Retrieve documents from court websites. Reserve hearing dates on various county court websites. Experience propounding and answering discovery requests is a plus.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have.H.S. Diploma with 3+ years of experience as a paralegal and have excellent computer skills including, MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook e-mail, Adobe, and most importantly WordPerfect. Law school graduates and post-bar is preferred. Accurate typing skills of 60+ wpm. Ability to operate all office equipment (i.e., telephone system, copiers, scanner). Ability to organize and prioritize to efficiently meet all deadlines. Adhere to firm protocol on the use of firmâ€™s use of information processing and facilities policies which include email and professional telephone etiquette. Familiar with state and federal court filing requirements. Interpersonal skills are essential to communicate effectively with a diverse group of clients, lawyers and staff and to provide information with courtesy, tact and a high level of professionalism. Candidates who speak Mandarin are preferred.
Desk type position in a cube/work station environment which requires a combination of sedentary and standing activities also may require to work overtime and lifting of up to 20 pounds.
