Attorney-Advisor (General), GS 13 The candidate will provide case assessment, legal advice, legal briefings, and representation to Sailors and Marines who are undergoing the DES process. Will serves as the subject matter expert in this complex and constantly evolving practice area. Independently conducts legal research pertaining to medical issues; conducts examination of witnesses; provides case assessment, legal advice, and recommendations to the Service member in support of the case; prepares legal memoranda in support of board proceedings; and may represent Sailors and Marines during the informal and formal PEB hearing process and in subsequent appeals processes. Develop contacts with Military Treatment Facility commanders and staff of units in their locations, health care practitioners, and civilian and military attorneys to maximize effective representation of the client and ensure consistent development of and presentation of the client's case. Must have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school, be a member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State of the United States or a Territory of the United States, and have legal experience of 2+ years.
