Paralegal The candidate will assist attorneys in the Office of General Counsel to protect Agency's interests concerning the legal and regulatory authorities, requirements, entitlements, obligations and oversight requirements under which the Agency operates. Will perform substantive legal work that would otherwise be performed by an attorney. Develop and maintain methods to obtain, process, disseminate, catalog, and summarize information in which the work requires legal skills. Analyze the legal impact of legislative developments and administrative/judicial decisions, opinions/rulings on Agency programs. Conduct research for the preparation of legal opinions on matters of interest to the Agency. Assist in preparing for and attending hearings, interviewing witnesses, managing evidence and drafting legal documents. Maintain legal files and various software applications to extract legal information to compile reports. Prepare reports to Congress and other government agencies. Manage functions and responsibilities of special projects/programs within the Office of General Counsel under the general supervision of a Managing Attorney. Advise management on project/program matters, offer recommendations, and provide liaison to clients as required. Should have a high school diploma or GED. Experience in a legal or policy function (e.g., internship with a government office or legal firm, working as a legal aid, litigation, legislation, and paralegal) is desired. Paralegal Certification from a recognized accredited US program is required.
