Contract Attorney - Personal Services Contract The candidate will review request for review pleadings and IL Department of Human Rights investigatory records, assess evidence, and make determinations and recommendations to Commissioners relative to whether or not legal error has been made. Will prepare, review, and edit proposed Request For Review orders for the signature of the Commission that specify in detail the legal reasoning used. Conduct legal research as needed to provide advice and counsel, and to draft legally sufficient orders. Make oral presentations of Request For Review matters to Commissioners during Commission panel hearings, where such matters are considered during public meetings held in accordance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act. Graduation from an accredited law school and licensure to practice law in the State of Illinois is needed. Prior legal experience in litigation, administrative law, anti-discrimination law, appellate advocacy, and/or as a judicial law clerk is highly desirable. Must have superb writing, analytical and research abilities. Excellent interpersonal, organization, and communication skills. Ability to manage a high caseload while maintaining a high level of accuracy in written work product is needed. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, Outlook) and internet applications. Note: This is a temporary 6 month personal services contract - subject to potential renewal.
