Human Resources Specialist (Reasonable Accommodation), GS 9 The candidate will serve as human resources reasonable accommodations subject matter expert. Advise employees, applicants, supervisors, and management regarding laws, regulations, and procedures for allowing individuals with mental or physical impairments that substantially limit major life activities to fully participate int he application process, perform essential job functions, and enjoy the benefits and privleges of employment. Research law, rules, and regulations on all aspects of reasonable accommodations. Oversee the processing of all requests for accommodation. Ensures that all timeframes are met and procedures are followed. Ensures that accommodations which are granted are provided timely. Coordinate with other areas of Human Resources. Provide managers with information on Reasonable Accommodation and needs assessments for applicants and employees with disabilities. Tracks and reports all requests for accommodation packages and the disposition of those requests by assisting management in completing required forms and checklists. Engages in the interactive process with the employee, or applicant and their representative regarding the nature of their disability and the types of accommodation necessary to perform the essential functions of their position. Reviews request from employees, advises employees and management in medical leave. Notifies employees and management of FMLA entitlements for requests received and updates tracking spreadsheets appropriately. Works with Staffing Specialist to determine vacant qualified positions for an employee who cannot be reasonably accommodated in the position of record. Traveling is required.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: extensive human resources experience in the field of employee relations and providing technical advisory service to managers and employees regarding these disciplines (see duties section) OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D.
