Litigation and Revenue Cycle Legal Assistant
The candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the attorneys in the Legal Department, with strict adherence to confidentiality and oriented to maximizing the effectiveness of the company’s legal counsel. Will support Managed Care contracting team with review of managed care contracts. Research and respond to initial demand letters from patients and attorneys relating to billing and collection activity. Handle tracking and routing of Services of Process and other litigation filings received by the company to ensure timely handling by in-house counsel or outside counsel. Respond to or delegate responses to third-party subpoenas and information requests pursuant to existing protocols. Review and analyze medical records and health insurance billing records. Locate, interview, prepare and schedule staff who have been subpoenaed as witnesses. Gather and prepare documents and information for litigation matters. Communicate with federal, state and local agencies, outside attorneys, the company, human resources and operations personnel on legal matters. Create, update, and maintain databases and other legal resources for Law Department use. Provide litigation support, including assisting with responses to discovery requests and e-discovery and performing other duties in support of Legal Counsel and the Law Department , as assigned. Serve as the electronic legal billing Administrator for the Legal Department, including setting up new legal matters in the billing system, obtaining needed information from outside counsel and others, and responding to internal and external inquiries about billing and payment issues. Provide administrative support to attorneys as directed including answering telephones, maintaining calendars and schedules, coordinating meetings, preparing expense reports and managing consequences. Schedule, verify and participate as necessary in meetings and appointments including making travel arrangements and accommodations for attendees, preparing conference rooms and arranging meals. Copying, typing, sending/receiving and distribution emails, sort, distribute and respond to mail, send certified mail and FedEx, screen calls, greet visitors, answer phones, set up and maintain file system, inter office mail, overnight mail, frequently check out box and process work, etc. Research and compile reports, proposals and presentation materials. Answer and screen calls and e-mails to the Legal Department for urgency, set priorities, take accurate messages and channel them to the proper contact individual. Perform all filing, creating files and maintaining file organization, in offices and file room, promptly and accurately. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Associate’s degree or equivalent experience. Must have 3-5 years of experience as a legal assistant handling litigation. Must have 3-5 years experience with managed care contracts, insurance billing and collection activity, and/or insurance denial management. 3-5 years of experience with phone, tracking, interpersonal and pro-active and self automate new projects is required.
