Director of Federal Government Affairs Duties: The candidate will analyze and understand the business impact of proposed federal legislation and regulations on the company’s operations and workforce. Create government relations strategies in support of business interests and further the company’s advocacy efforts on select issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant government officials- legislative offices- industry partners- and visionary leaders in Washington D.C. Lead projects that will foster the company’s relationship with elected officials- regulators and policymakers. Anticipate emerging federal food- agriculture and ESG issues that are important to the food manufacturing industry- public and/or community. Represent the company with exceptional stature and experience in public settings. Exercise good judgment and discretion. Established relationships with senior policymakers and members of Congress on Capitol Hill.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: The candidate should have 10-15 years of demonstration within a government-trade association or corporate government affairs function. Experience directing consultants on legislative or public policy-related initiatives. Demonstrate leadership skills and an ability to advance company interests in venues that require consensus building. Demonstrated ability to advocate senior executive branch officials- including commerce department- EPA- FDA- SEC- USDA- and/or USTR. Confirmed and robust relationships with relevant Committee members and staff- Agency and Administration guides and leaders- and leaders in the field. Strong project management skills and a proven record of coalition-building and delivering results. Ability to represent the company effectively in a variety of public settings. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to lead and motivate a team.
