A law firm in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a highly qualified Intellectual Property Income Partner with substantial experience in global patent prosecution and opinion work in the life sciences sector. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in patent prosecution and counseling, with additional expertise in licensing and agreement work. A superior academic record, exceptional writing and oral communication skills, and a focus on life sciences, particularly biotech, are essential. Experience in pharma/biotech and a small amount of portable business are advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage global patent prosecution efforts, specializing in life sciences and biotech fields.
  • Provide expert legal advice on patent-related matters, including drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Offer strategic opinions on complex patent issues to ensure effective intellectual property protection for clients.
  • Oversee patent licensing and agreement negotiations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering strategic guidance and tailored solutions for intellectual property matters.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including scientists and business professionals, to address and meet client needs.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in patent law and life sciences to provide innovative legal solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior attorneys and staff in intellectual property law and practice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
  • PhD in biological sciences preferred.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in intellectual property law, with a strong background in life sciences and biotech.
  • Proven expertise in global patent prosecution and counseling.
  • Familiarity with patent licensing and agreement work is preferred.
  • Superior academic record with excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Extensive knowledge of patent prosecution and opinion work, particularly in life sciences and biotech.
  • Strong understanding of patent licensing and agreement processes.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
