Assistant Investigator/ADA Compliance Specialist
Duties: Reporting to the Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Title IX Coordinator within Human Resources Management, responsible for supporting the EDI Director in investigating complaints of civil rights discrimination, harassment and related retaliation from students and employees, presenting related training, and analyzing and responding to requests for reasonable accommodations from employees. Ensures that university policies, procedures, protocols, and practices are in compliance with Title VII, Title IX, ADA, VAWA/Campus SaVe Act, related state laws, such as Fair Employment and Housing (FEHA) and California State University policies; conducts training programs for faculty, staff and students on related policies and procedures; maintains database for tracking reports/complaints and prepares reports; receives, analyzes and engages in the interactive process necessary to accommodate employees with disabilities, keeping track of accommodations provided from beginning to end; and applies University policies and ensures appropriate enforcement as necessary.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and 4 years of related experience required. 2 years of experience conducting HR and/or EEO related investigations and Title IX investigations. Experience with requests for reasonable accommodations. Demonstrated knowledge of Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Title VII, ADA, Title IX, VAWA, and other applicable laws and regulations. Knowledge of best practices as they relate to institutions of higher education compliance with Title IX and VAWA. Incumbent must be able to maintain confidentiality; have an understanding of privacy laws and policies; prioritize work and meet deadlines; work independently; analyze, evaluate and interpret policies; manage an ongoing and complex caseload of incidents and complaints; work collaboratively, using tact and diplomacy when interacting with the campus community; interpret and apply technical letters and executive orders; ability to use Excel or HRIS at an intermediate level; use appropriate judgment when making decisions and recommendations; and ensure investigations are thorough, objective and documented appropriately, and completed within established timelines. Must have strong presentation skills and experience developing and delivering training; be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; and keep up to date with current issues in higher education, including but not limited to: legal issues, state and federal regulations, technology, and best practices. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position. Desired: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university or a JD Degree. Working knowledge of issues related to gender based violence preferred.
