Senior Officer, Civil Justice Innovation Project Responsibilities: Serve as a senior member of the project by representing Pew as the lead subject matter expert; overseeing the technical and legal accuracy of work related to implementation of new technologies. Secure a significant public profile for the project. Ensure that communications and outreach are essential components of the project and are used to advance the project’s overall goals. Respond to public inquiries about the work by representing the project publicly at conferences and official forums and responding to press inquiries regarding the project as a principal spokesperson. Work with the director and other project staff to identify the most tractable project sites, and develop a cohesive and targeted strategic approach to securing support for the implementation of new technologies. Identify key experts from the legal, advocacy and end user communities, develop and maintain relationships with them, in order to strategically position Pew to achieve policy objectives. Collaborate with Pew colleagues and leadership in the program, philanthropic partnership, legal, communications, finance, and other departments to advance the goals of the project, shepherd initiatives through Pew’s internal approval processes, and ensure compliance with Pew policies. Serve as a guide to other project staff, sharing legal expertise and professional judgment as needed to ensure the project’s portfolio meets the highest standards.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced or Law Degree preferred. 10 years of experience in public policy or nonprofit work in a field related to the project goals including legal aid or related advocacy efforts. Experience convening groups of policymakers, researchers, and other professionals, and supporting their efforts to reach consensus and move toward a desired outcome. Excellent listening skills. Ability to develop and manage productive relationships with consultants, donors, partners and others who contribute to the development of a project. Strong and diplomatic interpersonal skills, demonstrating strong collaborative spirit and ability to make decisions. Proven success in overseeing complex projects and achieving measurable results. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to develop and move projects forward with a high degree of independence and autonomy. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be flexible, creative, and consistent and assume high accountability for all areas of responsibility. Seasoned judgment. Ability to creatively solve problems, justify recommendations, and be responsive to colleagues and partners. Superb oral and written communications skills. Ability to articulate complex ideas, thoughts and concepts clearly and effectively. Ability to thrive in a creative, fast-paced and highly professional corporate culture that emphasizes excellence, collegiality and teamwork. Acute political awareness and non-partisan perspective and approach.
