Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is looking for an associate attorney to join its Labor & Employment practice. This position offers a diverse range of responsibilities, including legal research, drafting, litigation, and client interactions related to various aspects of labor and employment ;

Location:

  • White Plains, NY

Duties:

  • Perform legal research on labor and employment matters, including discrimination, wage and hour laws, and union issues.
  • Draft employee handbooks and workplace policies.
  • Prepare position statements and responses to administrative charges (EEOC, NY State Division of Human Rights, CT Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities).
  • Communicate with clients to gather information for position statements.
  • Draft motions for federal and state courts.
  • Respond to discovery requests.
  • Draft deposition outlines, prepare exhibits, and assist in preparing witnesses for depositions.
  • Assist partners in preparing for mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings, and trials.
  • Serve as second chair, and where appropriate, first chair, in mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings, and trials.
  • Meet a minimum of 1,800 billable hours annually.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in labor and employment law or litigation.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar (or ability to waive in) is preferred.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the bar.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Quick learner with the ability to absorb and process new information.
  • High standards of performance, dedication, self-discipline, and responsibility.
  • Professional, cooperative, and positive attitude with a flexible approach.
  • Ability to work well with diverse personalities at all organizational levels.
  • Military experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar (preferred or ability to waive in).
