Lead Counsel The candidate develops legal best practices and processes for aligning key client group strategies with the firm’s corporate objectives. Drafts and reviews contracts and agreements, leases, and other legal documents research legal issues, and recommends revisions that minimize risks and maximize legal rights. Provides counseling to corporate departments, reviewing and/or drafting company policies, reviewing business agreements (i.e., independent contractor, confidentiality, non-compete, etc.), conducting wage & hour audits, overseeing responses to subpoenas, responding to discovery demands, attending depositions, and/or trials and resolving cases. Sets internal governance policies and manages the impact of external factors. Works effectively with external parties including outside counsel, clients, vendors, regulators. Anticipates issues and estimates risks strategically. Reviews, researches, interprets and prepares both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues. Should have a JD degree. Must have 15+ years of legal experience working in a corporate environment. Must have the ability to isolate complex legal issues and provide prompt, concise, and focused legal advice directly to senior leadership, while balancing risks and benefits to the company. Demonstrated strong negotiation and litigation skills are required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within the legal team and across functions. Have strong research and writing skills, experience drafting legal memoranda. Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, city, and county laws and regulations that could impact business operations and stays current with any changes is essential.
