Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking Attorneys with varying levels of experience in General Liability defense for the office in Buffalo, NY. The role involves all aspects of insurance defense, including investigation, legal analysis, preparation and filing of legal documents, discovery, hearings, trials, and post-trial activities. This position is ideal for candidates with strong case analysis, trial experience, and settlement skills, with the ability to work independently.

Location:

Duties:

  • Conduct initial investigation and provide legal analysis and advice on General Liability defense matters
  • Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents
  • Perform legal research to support case strategies
  • Manage pre-trial discovery, including depositions, interrogatories, and requests for documents
  • Prepare for and represent clients in hearings and trials
  • Handle post-trial activities, including appeals and enforcement actions
  • Work with moderate supervision, demonstrating independent case management skills
  • Negotiate settlements when appropriate, while maintaining a focus on achieving favorable outcomes for clients
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and provide litigation support as needed

Requirements:

  • New York State Bar Admission required (Additional Bars in New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania are a plus)
  • Trial experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in case analysis, trial, and settlement
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in New York (New Jersey, Connecticut, and/or Pennsylvania Bar Admissions are a plus)
