ProfileMotor Transport Specialist Duties: The candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the administration, operation, utilization, maintenance, inspection and inventory control of the non-tactical vehicle fleet. The fleet consists of a GSA Fleet vehicles, Army-owned vehicles such as dozers, scrapers, graders, heavy construction equipment, escorted transport and firefighting equipment required for maintenance and wildfire management support of a training area. Receive, review, and approve justification for assignment of administrative use vehicles. Analyze utilization, cost-per mile, monthly lease costs, and maintenance and repair time, and other information associated with monthly billing and budget requirements. Determine requirements to justify vehicle inventory in support of the installation's mission. Determine vehicle replacement needs and coordinate requirements with GSA fleet managers. Review and evaluate the operational adequacy and general effectiveness of mission in support and services provided. Implement overall management and operational guidance/direction provided by the Installation Transportation Officer. Conduct statistical analysis to analyze vehicle utilization, downtime, cost efficiency and identify usage trends.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: The candidate must have 1 year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support for fleet management or transportation, dispatch, receipt, and accountability of motor vehicles (i.e. sedans, small sports utility vehicles, light trucks, rental vehicles, or other government commercial vehicles; and use of automated systems to maintain data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
