Legal Assistant /Paralegal The candidate will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of the owners, assigned staff and their lead counsel. Will be responsible for the coordination of all details before, during and after the trial and give insight to the owners of the company as communicate with their lead counsel. Will be able to provide assistance during all facts of the litigation process with the owners and legal counsel including conducting legal research, creating and formatting responses, document filing and attending trial when needed. This would start off as a part-time position. Conduct legal research, pre-claim investigation and initial case assessments working with a lead counsel. Organized, prompt, reliable. Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court if needed. Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc in communication with owner(s). Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes as needed. Organize exhibits, document, evidence, briefs, and appendices. Aid attorney if asked by owners or attorney with interrogatories and other discovery requests. Gather relevant information from a variety of sources. Liaise with trial teams and internal/external third parties. Help with voir dire, jury selection and witnesses preparation if ever asked. Provide assistance with case settlements as asked. Provide administrative support to a lawyer and enhance open communication with the owner and self. Administratively support and attend trials if needed. Prepare case briefs and summarize depositions, interrogatories, responses, and testimony. Conduct investigations and statistical/documentary research. Locate and develop case relevant information. Type up and file basic legal documents and correspondence. Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have 5 years of legal assistant experience in litigation, Paralegal Associates Degree or other relevant certification. Should have proven working experience as a litigation paralegal. Must have applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation, documentation, court rules, court procedures, practices etc. Should have strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail. Must have extensive computer and database expertise. Should have familiarity with the law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system. Must have working knowledge of case management software.
