Assistant General Counsel - Labor and Employment
Responsibilities: Establish labor and employment strategy and direction for the Law Department and the Company. Establish information Governance strategy and direction for the Company. Provide Company senior management with timely, effective legal advice with respect to any issue related to labor or employment law which may arise. Represent the Company in labor hearings and arbitrations, before the EEOC and related agencies, and with respect to any labor and employment litigation. Provide legal support to Company’s Human Resources Department. Maintain sufficient legal expertise to competently provide expert counsel in labor and employment law. Develop legal expertise in other major areas of aviation related law and regulations, domestic and international, that most commonly affect the Company. Provide legal support to the Company’s IT Security Division. Review and advise on labor contract agreements. Manage (including supervision of outside counsel) legal disputes, such as arbitrations and other forms of ADR, litigation, and administrative hearings with regulatory agencies. Assist Chief Legal Officer in providing all legal services required by the Company and in helping manage the Department. Supervise Employment Attorney and Employment Compliance Manager.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Bachelors’ Degree and Juris Doctorate Degree. 5 years of experience in labor and employment law. Admitted to practice law in the State of Hawaii. Ability to travel to HA system-wide locations and such other cities, domestic and international, as needed. Strong analytical background and experience in analytically-focused roles. Demonstrated ability to persuade leaders across the organization. Preferred Qualifications: Graduate of top tier law school. Experience working in the airline industry. Strong analytical background and experience in analytically-focused roles. Experience in Railway Labor Act issues.
