A law firm seeks an experienced Technology & IP Transactions Associate to join their Austin office. This is an exceptional opportunity for attorneys with 3-6 years of experience in technology and intellectual property law to work on high-impact domestic and international transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technology-related agreements across various industries, including software, pharma, energy, and media. This position provides exposure to diverse and cutting-edge legal work in a dynamic environment.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on a wide array of technology and IP-intensive transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
  • Handle a broad spectrum of agreements such as software and systems agreements, outsourcing contracts, R&D collaborations, and intellectual property licensing (patent, trademark, copyright, and data/databases).
  • Advise clients on matters involving financing, restructurings, and other commercial agreements.
  • Work on both domestic and international transactions for clients across industries such as pharmaceuticals, media, infrastructure, and consumer products.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop legal strategies that align with business goals.
  • Draft and negotiate complex agreements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in technology and intellectual property transactions, including experience with a variety of commercial agreements and corporate matters.
  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property law, including licensing, patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Experience working on M&A, joint ventures, financing, and strategic alliances is highly desirable.
  • A strong interest in working with clients from diverse industries such as software, pharma, and media.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulatory and compliance issues in technology and IP law.
