Consumer Banking Control Issue Management and Customer Remediation Leader (Operational Risk Manager 5) The candidate will be responsible for leading the Issue and Escalation Management program within the Consumer Control team. Will oversee a team responsible for monitoring and reporting the status of issues and action plans. In conjunction with business and risk-aligned control teams, the Issue Management leader will be responsible for the review of the sufficiency of action plans, overseeing the effective remediation, and sustainability of processes within Consumer Banking with relevant issue owners and assurance teams. Will provide insight for business and control leadership into key issues such that management has adequately evaluated root causes, identified appropriate action plans, and is delivering to plan or where additional resources may be required. In addition, the role will be responsible for ensuring escalating issues through the Enterprise escalation tool, building processes around how notifications should be sent and reporting to senior leadership. Manage a large/matrixed team of risk professionals and work cross functionally with multiple support partners. Work closely with other senior leaders across Consumer Banking and the company in the development and execution of company’s remediation and change strategies. The Issue Management leader will be responsible for ensuring data being entered in the SHRP tool meets all required standards and expectations. Identify and report on key issue and action plan trends and/or concentrations, and emerging critical issues. Manage issue and action plan review, sustainability and issue closure. Define issue intake processes. Maintain issue mapping (process, risk and controls, third parties). Ensure compliance with company-wide policies. Determine customer remediation impact. Maintain root cause documentation. Challenge the effectiveness and efficiency of action plans. Monitor action plans, assurance, sustainability, and post-implementation monitoring. Ensure issue tollgates and consistency. Complete issue thematic analysis. Drive consistency through standards, playbooks, and procedures, templates as needed. Will have ability to distill complex concepts into simplified/targeted solutions, communicate those concepts effectively and ensure that all deliverables are met. Will use both vision and analysis to identify business problems and build compelling fact-based strategic recommendations. Also have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups including Consumer Control Team Executive, Consumer Risk Operations and Program Management Control Executive, Consumer Banking Business Unit (BU)-Aligned Control Teams, Consumer Banking Business Management, and Independent Risk Management. As a Team Member Manager, are expected to achieve success by leading yourself, your team, and the business. Specifically: Lead team with integrity and create an environment where team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them. Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.

Qualification and Experience

A Risk Certification Programs a plus. Experience building effective Risk/Control programs is preferred. A BA/BS and/or Advanced Degree (MBA, JD, etc.) is preferred. Should have 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 6+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both. 7+ years of management experience is required. Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner is preferred. Advanced Microsoft Office skills are desired. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are desired. Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy are desired. Strong knowledge of the financial services industry, products, and regulatory environment are desired. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to process multiple tasks simultaneously are preferred. Working knowledge of relationships and transaction processes are desired. Strong understanding of policies, procedures, and programs to ensure appropriate and effective risk mitigation controls are in place are desired.
