Duties and Responsibilities

• Represent medical staff in peer review hearings
  • Conduct witness interviews
  • Draft briefs and present arguments
• Advise medical staff on regulatory and accreditation compliance
  • Application of peer review statutes
  • Medicare Conditions of Participation
  • Joint Commission standards
• Draft and review medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex healthcare law issues
• Stay current on emerging healthcare laws and regulations

Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience in healthcare law
• Strong understanding of peer review statutes, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and Joint Commission standards
• Strong work ethic and collaborative approach
• Admission to the State Bar of California

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Admission to the State Bar of California
