Corporate Counsel - Land Use and Legislative Affairs The candidate will serve as the recognized subject matter expert in the area of land use law and regulations, zoning regulations and related state and local government affairs. Review, analyze and offer counsel on zoning ordinances and land use planning laws and regulations. Review, draft and negotiate legislative bills and amendments to existing statutes. Participate in the oversight of pending land use, zoning and permitting matters, while assisting with litigation support as needed. Provide assistance on an as-needed basis with other regulatory compliance matters. May direct activities of administrative support staff and legal assistants as assigned by Associate General Counsel and General Counsel.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have BA/BS degree. Juris Doctorate required. Should have 3-5 years of experience in real estate transactions including, zoning and land use regulatory matters. Telecommunications industry experience preferred. Knowledge of state and local legislative process strongly preferred. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents are preferred. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area and volume are preferred. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions would be advantageous. Current Bar admittance in a U.S. state and the ability to qualify as Authorized House Counsel with the Florida Bar if not currently admitted in Florida is essential.
