UCC Paralegal
The candidate will review UCC financing statements to confirm compliance pursuant to questions on a master review form such as confirming the debtor and secured party, the accuracy of the debtor’s name, the filing jurisdiction, the collateral description, and defined terms. Review for compliance with underlying documents, UCC Article 9, jurisdiction-specific requirements, as well as recommended practices of the Firm. Compose UCC reviews to show findings of the UCC review and distribute them among attorneys and paralegals as required. Responds to all inquiries as needed. Communicate and coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, vendors, and other staff to monitor UCC financing statements throughout the filing process. Confirm that UCC financing statements that have been reviewed were duly filed, that acknowledgment copies of them are in the Firm’s DMS, and certain cautionary language has been sent to the client. Maintain UCC filing information in the Firm database. Conduct Web research as needed. Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have Bachelor’s degree. Should preferably have Paralegal Certificate. Should preferably have training/ understanding of Uniform Commercial Code Revised Article 9. Must have 2 years of related experience. Should preferably have transactional paralegal or other relevant UCC experience. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside parties such as filing vendors and personnel at jurisdictions of filing are required. Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm; work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities; anticipate needs of lawyers and paralegals. Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects are needed. Maintain confidentiality and exercises discretion is a prerequisite. Exercise solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills are a must. Must have occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

There needs to be a focus on offering employees a varied work schedule. Management should work towards improving in the area of treating the support team with more respect.

Pros : The law firm offers a salary that is in the same area as other firms. The firm does pay attention to the office and its employees. Employees are shown recognition for what they do for the firm.
Cons : The law firm falls short in offering a varied work schedule for people who struggle with balancing work. The support team is not treated with the same respect as others.
